In november last year, I finally got my hands on Komplete Kontrol 11 from Native Instruments. Thanks to the great accessibility implementation I’ve got access to amazing sounding virtual instruments and plugins using their Komplete Kontrol keyboard controller. I wish more instrument vendors take accessibility as serious as the guys at NI. Using Pro Tools for audio recording, Logic Pro X is more interesting for working with midi. The best way to adapt a new DAW is to do a full project and you are learning the in and outs along the way.

Songwriting is another thing I would love to master.  Having a musical idea in your head and make it happen? Isn’t that awesome?

A friend of mine asked me to create a backing track  for his demo video’s on his site. He did not give me any pointers, which style, slow, fast, organic, ….?

At first glance, the job sounds easy, but at the end, is it?

I wanted to make something relaxing and spacey. He will use it on instructional video’s.  An up tempo track will distract the viewer, neither a slow track. When the song is more complex the focus will land on the music.  When the song is boring, they simple stop watching. I tried to create a relaxing musical mood, so the information provided will be picked up perfectly.

This track is mostly produced in Apple’s Logic Pro X. I recorded and mixed the drums in Pro Tools, bounced out a stereo track and imported it back into Logic. The final mix has been done In Logic.

Have a zen listening experience.
